The funds provided by Pinoak Partners will come from its members. Initially, the membership in Pinoak Partners will be limited to twenty members. “We will be attracting membership from a wide variety of business backgrounds including, technology, agriculture, manufacturing, healthcare and energy as well as people with expertise in accounting, legal, marketing and sales”, according to Tony Kern. “We are looking to have a depth and diversity of business knowledge that will allow us to not only fund entrepreneurial projects, but, also provide specific business mentoring”, added Haschen .
In addition to existing relationships throughout the Mid Atlantic, Pinoak is advancing relationships with local and regional banks, economic development offices, colleges, civic organizations and other venture and entrepreneurship organizations to familiarize them with the group and invite them to refer candidates who need funding. “Generally speaking, we are looking for Eastern Shore entrepreneurs and companies with products or services that are meaningfully unique, innovative, scalable and sustainable”, said Tony Kern. “The Eastern Shore is a great place to live and work, but it is underserved from an investment perspective”, Haschen pointed out. “We believe we can help ignite the entrepreneurial fire and accelerate the collisions between science, technology, the arts, manufacturing, agriculture and capital”, added Kern.
